Adam Schmidt is a tenor currently based in Montreal, QC. His repertoire spans from the early renaissance to modern music still in development. He is particularly at home in the works of Benjamin Britten and in German lieder.
He began his academic career as a software engineer, but after performing in his first opera with Pacific Opera Victoria (Otello, 2015) he realized that if he was going to be paid to sing, the least he could do was get some professional training! He began studying with Nancy Argenta and Ingrid Attrot, and has been working in the arts ever since. He still maintains some ties to the world of technology by working as a freelance recording engineer and data analyst, but these are always a third priority behind performing and teaching.
Adam holds diplomas in Voice Performance and in Vocal Pedagogy from the Victoria Conservatory of Music, and is currently studying under John Mac Master at the University of McGill where he’s been engaged to work with Opera McGill.
Adam maintains a small studio of students and has given masterclasses in both the United States and Canada.
